Company Bio

A Los Angeles based movement theater, Post Mortem was started by Angela Lopez in 2013 after the success of an original piece called Ravens and Writing Desks written by Angela Lopez and Ryan McClary. Years earlier, Lopez and McClary started a burlesque company called Post Mortem Grotesque Burlesque (which still thrives today) focusing on classic and vaudeville burlesque.

Lopez debuted Post Mortem Movement at Hollywood Fringe, taking audiences through the looking glass and into the bizarre and captivating world of Lewis Carroll's works in Ravens and Writing Desks, recipient of a “Best of Fringe” award. Since it’s start Post Mortem has gone on to produce several shows such as Heiner Muller’s Hamletmachine and collaborating with House of Rabbits on the Fringe favorite Charivari in Voyeurville. Post Mortem is an ensemble specializing in melding the grotesque and the awe-inspiring through dance, acrobatics, and numerous other physical styles.

Art is not a mirror held up to reality but a hammer with which to shape it"
